I absolutely loved this place. The owner made it special. She was a gem, sure helpful and sweet. Hospitable environment & felt cozy. I went here with my friends and we all felt the same! We did pottery painting in the back. We bonded with the owner as well, it felt intimate. I would come definitely love to come back here again. I loved how my piece came out as well. I love this spot. Very good costumer service and delicious coffee. This is more of a lowkey gem but it's definitely a good date idea to go on with your significant other

I stopped in here this morning for an iced oat milk latte. The person who served me, who I believe was the owner, was incredibly warm and friendly. The cafe itself is inviting with eclectic books and coffee and a pastry display. I love that there were books for me to parouse while I waited for my latte. Overall, I see myself returning to this sweet neighborhood spot and trying one of the smoothies or bubble teas. Spots like this are worth supporting as they bring warmth and uniqueness to our community the way only a mom and pop place can.

Great service and great coffee. They were about to close and still took us and treated us as if they had just opened the cafe.

One of the only places in the neighborhood to get a good latte or cup of coffee. It has a nice homey feeling inside and the lady behind the counter was friendly.

Great neighborhood coffee shop. Wonderful friendly service. Feels like your at a friends house. They have wonderful coffee the daily house blend varies day to day but they carry great brands including Joes, Intelligesta, and stumptown. Had the stumptown dark french roast and it was great. Love their smoothies as well. the chocolate, almond, cocoa nibs was delish and satisfying. Also the pastries they carry were fresh and tasty. All from Balthazar bakery in the city. It's great to see this quality here in forest hills and it's a taste of the city. Will definitely come back to try their fruit and veg smoothies and lunch items as well. Definitely stop by and become a regular.

Elly's Place is adorable! A really cute spot with an excellent selection of coffee + espresso drinks, pastries, bubble teas and smoothies. The milk green bubble tea was delicious and not too sweet. I'll definitely be back to try more drinks and Balthazar pastries-there was a fig danish on display that looked fabulous. The prices are very reasonable, especially compared to coffee shops around Austin St. It seems like they've switched up the format a bit, I'm assuming due to the pandemic. It's now a takeout counter with a couple of benches outside. No grocery but you can buy bags of JOE coffee and there were some beautiful chocolate bars for sale. Definitely worth a stop!

I adore this place! Wish I came here earlier. I decided to finally stop by when my toddler expressed her hunger. I knew about this place from Yelp and had a good idea of what they offered. I believe I met the owner Elizabeth who is so sweet and down to earth. Got a croissant, tea, two onigiris (rice balls with their Korean take on it) and a water for under $13. Pretty good pricing considering the neighborhood. What I loved the most about this place was the collection of books in their library. Mostly children's books. Such a family and kid friendly environment. I'll definitely donate books here since they have a weekly book swap and you can take books and return it. My toddler thoroughly enjoyed her munchies here. Absolutely pleasant environment with calm, relaxing music and sells a little bit of everything. I can't wait to come back and try more things especially when the bingsu (shaved ice) is available. Definitely worth supporting this local business!

Stumbled across this small lovely market while in the area. Absolutely love everything about it! First thing I noticed is that they decorated the space so nicely with gourmet and unique items (marmalades, honey, rare teas, small candies and snacks). They have a small bar with coffee and tea menu, and they even have quite a few boba tea options! In the back of the shop, they have a wide variety of organic and natural foods (pantry items mostly and a small selection of fresh produce), spices, and cleaning products. They even have oat milk for sale in a carton in the refrigerated section! And finally, they have a small selection of asian snacks (Pocky, etc). Like a previous reviewer mentioned, they close 2-3pm weekdays! They have a credit card minimum ($5, I think), FYI. The asian lady who runs the market (I think), was the sweetest. So friendly and welcoming! I hope to be back soon!

** brews JOE's coffee & sells their beans too ** ** Pastries are from Balthazar ** ** street parking available out front ** ** $5 CC minimum ** ** Note on the front door that says: "2-3pm closed to pick up kids" ** Sunrise Market is a really cute café storefront, with a small market in the back; the café is the first thing you see upon walking in. The owner is a lovely woman who is very friendly and inviting. There are several chairs and tables here so I could see how this place would be a nice breakfast spot to enjoy your pastries in the morning. The pastries are from Balthazar, so for those who do not want to venture into the SoHo streets in the city to grab Balthazar pastries, this place is a good alternative to bypass city traffic. In terms of grocery shopping, it's a good place to grab your essentials such as veggies, fruits, and teas. It is a organic market so you could expect a lot of healthy produce and snacks here. I do plan on returning one weekend with a friend - it's honestly the Sunday morning, pintrest-esq, cafe.
